1. Acceptance
By accessing this site, you are understood to have read and accepted the Terms and Conditions contained herein.
2. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions the following words and phrases shall bear the following meanings and may be used in the singular or plural as appropriate:
a) "Mediterranean Virtual University" (MVU) is a EUMEDIS project set up between leading institutions in the Mediterranean area and the University of Strathclyde in Scotland with Aalborg University, Denmark, with the aim of building a network to collaboratively develop and deliver high quality online university courses.
b) "The Site" shall mean the provision through an internet and e-mail service of a means of access for you to send and obtain information to and from MVU on queries and on the products and services offered by MVU.
3. Licence
The University hereby grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Site and any associated software under the Terms and Conditions.
4. Use
The Site shall be used only for access to and the exchange of information and data relevant to you and shall not be used to provide a service to any third party, except where this is for the purpose of your normal requirements. The Site shall not be used for the transmission of offensive material.
5. Ownership
Copyright and all other intellectual property rights in respect of the material contained on and/or generated through the Site are, and shall remain at all times, in the ownership of the University. Under no circumstances are you permitted to publish, re-transmit, re-distribute or otherwise reproduce any of the content which appears on any page of the Site in any format to anyone and you are prohibited from using any such content in connection with any business or commercial enterprise.
6. Access
MVU shall endeavour to maintain access to the Site on a 24 hour basis. MVU shall not, however, be liable for any losses incurred due to any down time or problems or delays in the provision of the Site.
7. Variations
MVU reserves the right to amend, update or alter the Site at their discretion. Should this occur, the amended, updated or altered version of the Service shall become the current release of the Service ("the Current Release").
8. Exclusions
i) The material on the Site is for information purposes only, does not constitute advice and therefore should not be relied upon as such. The University makes no representation that the information provided is appropriate for your individual use.
ii) MVU has applied care and skill to produce the Site to a professional standard. It has taken all reasonable steps to ensure the information contained within the site is accurate, current and complies with the relevant legislation and regulations as at the date of issue. However, MVU cannot guarantee that the Site is free of errors and omissions and so no warranty is given and no representation is made regarding the accuracy or completeness of the site. Consequently, MVU does not accept any liability for losses or damages (whether direct, indirect, special, consequential or otherwise), howsoever incurred, arising from the use of the Site. Further, no warranty is given that the Site shall be available on an uninterrupted basis and no liability can be accepted in respect of losses or damages arising out of such unavailability.
iii) MVU will try to ensure the Site is virus free however no representation is made as to freedom of viruses from the content of the Site. MVU cannot however be held liable for any loss or damage caused by the presence of a virus which has not been detected by the virus checking software. MVU therefore recommends you employ your own virus detection and protection measures when accessing the Site.
iv) You acknowledge that you are solely responsible for the use to which you put the Site and all the results and information you obtain from the Site and that all warranties, conditions, undertakings, representations and terms whether expressed or implied, statutory or otherwise are hereby excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.
v) MVU shall have no liability in respect of material hyperlinked from the Site which may be misleading, inaccurate, obscene, threatening, defamatory or otherwise in contravention of current legislation or regulation. Likewise such a link does not imply any endorsement of any such web-site or its contents.
9. Indemnity
You shall use the Service in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and shall indemnify and hold harmless MVU from any losses, damages and costs incurred by MVU arising out of or in connection with the use or disclosure of information derived from the Site or as a consequence of any breach of these Terms and Conditions by you.
10. Severability
In the event of any term or condition contained herein being held to be void or unenforceable in whole or in part it shall be deemed to be omitted from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining provisions and conditions shall remain enforceable and valid.
